Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurologic disorder characterized by resting tremor, rigidity, akinesia (inability to move), and postural instability. The hallmark pathological finding believed to underlie these symptoms is the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra pars compacta.
